What is the meaning of Lent for us Catholics? 🌷🙏

Lent is a very special time for us Catholics. It is 40 days of preparation for the greatest celebration of our faith: the Lord's Passover , the victory of Christ over sin and death. ❤️✝️ During this period, we are invited to a path of conversion, penance and deep reflection on our life and relationship with God and our brothers and sisters. 🌱🙏

🌿 Why does Lent last 40 days?

The number 40 has a symbolic meaning in the Bible. Jesus spent 40 days in the desert in prayer and fasting before beginning his public mission (Matthew 4:1-11). In the same way, we are invited to enter our personal "desert", facing our weaknesses and seeking strength in God. 🌬️⛰️

🙏 How to live Lent well?

The Church proposes three fundamental pillars for this time:

  1. Prayer 🙏: Intensify our dialogue with God, participate in Holy Mass, pray the Rosary, meditate on the Word and seek moments of silence to hear the voice of the Lord. 🌇❤️

  2. Fasting and Penance 🍔🪧: Giving up something we like helps us strengthen our spirit. Fasting is not just about food, but also about negative attitudes such as criticism, impatience, and selfishness. 🌱

  3. Charity 💖: Practicing generosity by helping those in need, listening to those who need support, and being a sign of God's love to those around us. 💙✨

💖 The true meaning of Lent

More than a time of renunciation, Lent is an invitation to conversion of heart . God calls us to draw closer to Him, acknowledging our sins and seeking reconciliation. 🌿❤️

Living these 40 days well, we arrive at Easter with a renewed heart and prepared to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ with joy and hope! 🎉✝️

💭 Tips to delve deeper into this time:

  • Participate in the Stations of the Cross in your parish. 🔥

  • Read a passage from the Gospel every day. 📖

  • Set aside moments of silence to listen to God in your heart. 🌇

  • Practice small gestures of love in your daily life. 🌹

May this Lent be a time of grace and transformation for all of us! 🌇🌿

With love and prayers,
Gesture of Love and Faith 🙏❤️
