Handout: Gospel of Jesus Christ According to Saint John

John’s goal is to proclaim the messiahship and sonship of Jesus through “signs” in order to develop faith in Christ as a means of obtaining life. From a Christological point of view, the purpose is to bear witness to the One in whom all the promises and expectations of the Old Testament are fulfilled.

It is very important that we know what we are going to study. Our study is not a theological teaching nor is it of a scientific nature. We will do a spiritual study of the Word of God.

In this handout we observe that John's objective was to strengthen the faith of his readers.

John himself attests that his Gospel was written “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”
